Lend A Hand is here to help seniors who are in need. As we emerge from the Coronavirus Pandemic, many elderly Bostonians are still struggling to pay for basic necessities such as rent and medication.

According to a recent article in the Boston Globe, many seniors on fixed incomes are seeing an increase in their social security but also an increase in the cost of rent and food. According to the findings, these seniors are faced with having to make painful decisions like cutting back on or giving up on anything other than basic necessities.

Social services agencies are receiving an overwhelming number of calls to help cover rent and heating bills during Boston’s cold winter months. This is where Lend A Hand can help prevent seniors from having to choose between paying their heating bills and rent or buying groceries at the market.

LAH Emergency Financial Assistance grants continue to support elders in need with essential needs – paying rent, utilities, medical supplies and equipment, eyeglasses and other necessities. These grants are especially important during the colder months.
