As the season comes to an end and the crispness of fall settles in, we want to take a moment to reflect on the significant impact of our campership campaign.

A longstanding LAH program of campership grants offered children and teens from low-income households the chance to participate in enriching activities and forge new friendships again this past summer. For many families, finding affordable summer programs can be a challenge. Our grants helped bridge this gap, allowing working parents to continue their jobs with peace of mind, knowing their children were involved in valuable opportunities. This past summer LAH funded seven camping programs – Cambridge Camping Association, Girls Scouts of Eastern MA, Housing Families, Phillips Brooks House, REACH, United South End Settlements and The Farm School.

Camp offers a variety of benefits, including entertainment, social interaction, and academic enrichment, all of which play a key role in helping children foster personal growth and maintain academic progress. Counselors have reported that many campers show greater confidence and improved school performance after attending. Through structured programs, kids develop problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills, all while reinforcing what they’ve learned during the school year. These activities keep children engaged and equip them with the tools they need to succeed when they return to the classroom.

The impact of campership programs extends far beyond the season. Experiences like this make a profound difference in the lives of underserved youth, providing them with a strong foundation for a brighter future.

Lend A Hand Society would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our supporters who made this summer’s camperships possible. Your generosity has made a lasting difference for these children and their families.
