On May 15th, friends and supporters gathered at Boston’s historic College Club for Lend A Hand Society’s annual Spring Event. The evening celebrated LAH’s accomplishments and our collective impact over the past year.  Guests enjoyed festive hors d’oeuvres, wine-tasting, and an opportunity to view archival photos and artifacts from LAH’s history.

Board President Erica Harmon and Executive Director Nancy Cooper highlighted LAH’s commitment to helping families in need, sharing that last year LAH awarded 478 emergency grants totaling $236,736 in collaboration with 120 partner agencies to help keep families housed, supported and stable within our community. Harmon and Cooper expressed their deep gratitude to all who make LAH’s work possible.

Julie Demusz from Compass Working Capital described the agency’s Family Self-Sufficiency Program and how LAH grants help families overcome urgent financial challenges while teaching them sound budgeting and financial planning. Demusz shared a moving story of a mother of two who, with a LAH grant, was able to cover an urgent bill during the winter, showing how important LAH grants are to their work with their clients. We enjoyed sharing the evening with our friends who were able to attend.

Thank you to all who support LAH’s work to create lasting change in the community.
